I am just saying a lot of people don't play Guild Wars because of this low level cap. It is not bad for me, though, I am fine with it, but I like levelling my character up, and when I reach level 20 I feel like "urgh" I would just like this experience to grow a little more and last longer.
|
It's so there's something to aim for in PVE, it wouldn't be very interesting to start with all your attributes.
If they increase the level cap, it just means all of us have to try and grind our way up, and anyone new to the game has even longer to try and catch up to everyone, which completely destroys the point of Guild Wars. Future expansions would simply have to speed this process up even more, to make sure you're the max level as quickly as possible, further making the new level cap unneccesary.
To put it simply, we just don't need this. I play Guild Wars because I don't have to deal with all of the annoying MMO conventions like grinding and "omg noob, im a higher level than you"

the only way they can legitimatly lift the Lev cap is to unlink the games. IE Guild Wars 2 will be a new realm era unrelated to existing levels or zones. OR IMPORTANTLY Current PvP... I am sure once GW2 comes out the cap will be a little higher like 30 or 40, but so will the creature mobs in the end... Attribute points will likely make a jump from 200 to 300 as well. But remember you will not be bringing your character 1000 years into the future into GW 2, so there is no THREAT to the precious PvP market that would be calling foul if this was done on a linked game in the current incarnation.
The same way the 48 vs 48 player alliance battles was quickly nerfed even though it was by far one of the funnest PvP times in GW history. But it was agreed to be UNFAIR to the people that didn't get Nightfall. SO GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND GET IT I SAY!! Best way to sell more chapters is to give them things no other one has. But PvP is all about keeping everyone the same. So there in is the problem.

i said that because once you ring that bell, there is no going back. once you touch the cap once, you have no excuse for not touching it again. eventually we would have a cap so high, that it takes months of game play to reach the higher levels. 1,000,000 exp points equates to a level of just under 80. heck, my ranger is almost 9 months old, and she isnt at 1,000,000 exp yet. no thanks.
and getting to level 20 isnt supposed to be hard; its supposed to be one of the easiest thing to do. the same goes for attaining max armor and weapons. again, no grind.

You realise there's more to this game than PvE, right?

Oh, and you haven't provided a single reason as to how the game will be more fun and entertaining with a higher level cap.

A good reason is what Tetris L mentioned....

Why do people get titles? To show off, why do people pay crazy amounts of money for extremely rare minipets when a cheap mini pig worth 3k can do the same job?... to show off.
I just think level 1 to level 20 is too short. However I do understand what you are saying, and I do partially agree.

Agreed.
What about this.... The next Guild Wars game allows you to level higher. Only those who have this new game can reach a level higher than level 20. If the players want to visit the worlds in the previous guild wars games, their level is temporary reset to 20.
Or what about this.... You continue to level but you stop earning attributes when you reach level 20. A title can be won at level 50.

Yes I do, but you realise that not everyone likes/wants to PVP? I do PVP but I mainly PVE. I dont even know why you mention PVP, you can create a PVP only character and have everything you want instantly (to a certain degree)

And you do realise that having the max cap to level 40 means that you effectively have twice as many attribute points, health etc.
This throws any "balance" right out the window.
Anyway, even if you didn't gain any attribute/health bonus etc. a better idea would be a tigher for high amounts of total experience over increasing the level cap.

Guild Wars isn't supposed to be about grinding xp to succeed. It's about learning new skills and effective use of builds you make from those skills in order to progress through a PVE world and succeed against it's challenges. That is one of GW's most unique aspects that sets it very far apart from the current trend of online games.

If the character lvl cap was higher than 20, the monster levels would be raised to match... It wouldn't serve a purpose other than to take longer to get to max level...do we really need that? I sure don't. Newbie Island is frustrating enough as it is without making it longer!!

LvL 20 capped is good and should stay that way.
As someone already mentioned it is not about the lvl but the skills
All the areas all the bosses all the players can be beat with a lvl 20 if that person has the right skills and use them well, its not a game about lvls or items its about skills, timing and the builds that makes them all sing together... lets keep it that way
Edit - heh Red you beat me to the punchline GJ

Either way I don't want the lvl cap changed. However I would like a title for Xp gained. Mabey you could still level but not gain any attribute points just an idea.

The often used comparison of GW vs. WoW is based on the simple fact, that WoW has a larger playerbase and that these two games often are compared with one another due to a certain similarity.
However, people often forget that these two games are fundamentally different.
As we have users coming to GW from WoW, they often tend to compare features of WoW to the lack of exactly those features in GW. Thus it's often recommended to implement these features to GW.
As GW player most often feel a given distance to WoW, it's often turned down, eventhough some of those features, like an in-game auction house, would benefit GW greatly.
So to keep the distance the comparison is often pulled up.

Well I played WoW and EQ2 before GW and yeah the lvl cap of 20 scared me at first, but holy damn everyone, it is actually MUCH more fun in the long run to not focus on 'dinging' all the time to get to new content.
I seriously wish WoW and EQ2 adopted more of GW's way of doing things.
I really do.

dang, it sounds like more work. i say leave the game as it is.
i use to play games like lineage 2 and man oh man did i hate leveling up.
it's more a chore than anything else.
i'm not trying to prove that i'm lazy or something, but to me leveling up just ain't really all that fun.
